We are delighted to announce the launch of our new Independent Hull initiative, which aims to help the city’s small businesses bounce back from the Covid-19 pandemic and beyond.

By bringing them together under our Independent Hull banner, we aim to highlight and promote the retailers, traders and artisans that are the backbone of our economy.

And whether you are a bookseller, record shop, cafe or plumber, we invite you to join forces with The Hull Story and let us support your business as the city prepares to reopen and get back to work.

Lockdown has been vital to save lives, limit the spread of this killer disease, and to protect our wonderful NHS.

But we now have a clear path ahead with the planned phased lifting of restrictions. The future may be uncertain, but there’s one thing we know - we are always stronger together.

So we urge our readers to support Hull’s independents when they can, and we invite small businesses to join our scheme.

For a small monthly fee, members receive:

  • A story introducing your business, including key information and contact details. We'll share this on our social media platforms and update as required.

  • A listing on our Independent Hull Index, linking through to your website or social media.

  • Access to half-price advertising on prominent positions on our website.

Businesses already signed up include mens’ designer clothing retailer Bob Greens; recording and rehearsal facility The Chocolate Factory and music shop Slave to the Beat; bespoke cake-makers Elliegantly Made; and party band Rapture.

Discounts are available for 12-month memberships. To find out more and to join our Independent Hull initiative, email advertising@thehullstory.co.uk.
