Deacon Blue announce new album and gig at Connexin Live

NEW ALBUM AND DATES: Deacon Blue

By Simon Bristow, Co-Editor

Scottish band Deacon Blue will play Connexin Live next year in support of their latest album.

The group will be embarking on two sets of dates in the UK and Ireland to promote their new studio album, The Great Western Road Trip, which will be released on March 21, 2025, on Cooking Vinyl.

The gigs include a show in Hull on Sunday, October 5, 2025, with tickets on sale from November 29.

Next year marks 40 years since Ricky Ross met Dougie Vipond, beginning the formation of Deacon Blue. A spokesman said the songs on the new album “reflect the journey the band has taken and remain honest to the age and experience they all share”. Ricky Ross said: “It’s just the next part of the adventure and it’s as exciting now as it was back in 1988.”

The album will be preceded by the single Late ’88’, which will be released on November 29.
