Christmas lights switch-on

November 21

Hull’s Christmas lights will be switched on in Queen Victoria Square on Thursday, November 21.

As always, the annual Christmas Lights switch-on will include a host of special guests and performers on the balcony of City Hall.

The entertainment starts at 5pm with, the big switch-on at 6.45pm.

Hull Jazz Festival 2024

Hull Jazz Festival returns once more with stellar music acts across an assortment of venues in the city.

The festival has been produced by J-Night, one of the leading producers of world jazz in the North of England, since 1992.

They deliver a year-round programme in Hull, building, maintaining and developing partnerships with Hull Music Hub, Freedom Festival Arts Trust, Hull City Council, the University of Hull, Jazz North and others.

Producing programmes that give audiences access to high quality artists from across the UK and beyond, they also provide developmental opportunities for national, regional and local artists, through commissioning, mentoring and outreach.

Victorian Christmas 2024

November 23-14

On Saturday, November 23 and Sunday, November 24, from 11am-4pm, Queen Victoria and her consort Prince would once again like to invite you to join them at the Hull Museums Quarter for a joyous Victorian Christmas celebration.

Join us and immerse yourself in the magic of Christmas past with a wonderful selection of activities.

Main activities:

  • Carousel

  • Horse and carriage rides

  • Live Music

  • Historical characters.

In addition to the main attractions there will also be:

  • Victorian and Dickensian characters (BSL)

  • Traditional Christmas craft activities

  • Storytelling (BSL)

  • Fairground organ

  • Food and drink stalls

  • Market stalls.

If you’d like, you could come along to the event dressed like a Victorian as you join in the fun!

We’ll also have a photo opportunity area with some dress up items and props for you to enjoy.
