Jobs bonanza as Siemens Gamesa looks to fill 300 new roles at Alexandra Dock in Hull
By Simon Bristow
A jobs boost in the offshore wind industry has been announced with Siemens Gamesa looking to recruit up to 300 people in Hull.
The company is partnering with Hull City Council to try to fill the roles, with a bespoke recruitment event being held this on Thursday at the Employment Hub in Hull Central Library in Albion Street from 9.30am to 3pm.
Siemens Gamesa is a world leader in the offshore wind industry and has already invested millions of pounds into Hull.
It is now recruiting for various roles as production operatives and warehouse workers for its Alexandra Dock site. Those attending the event on February 23 will have the opportunity for face-to-face discussions about the jobs on offer and find out more from current staff and representatives.
Siemens is particularly targeting the unemployed, those looking for a career change, veterans, and those looking to return to work such as women returners.
Councillor Paul Drake-Davis, city council portfolio holder for regeneration, said: “This is a fantastic initiative organised by the council’s Employment Hub team and Siemens Gamesa.
“Having been on a tour of its Alexandra Dock factory, I know first-hand the amazing work which Siemens Gamesa does and continues to do, all whilst supporting Hull’s economy as a key employer in the city.
“Previous recruitment drives like this have proved extremely popular, with thousands attending the events, so my advice is to declare your interest early so that you don’t miss out.”
Andy Sykes, Hull Blade Factory plant director for Siemens Gamesa, said: “We have come so far in such a short period of time and to have the opportunity to grow our team to over 800 people shows the important role we are all playing in all our energy futures.”
Those wishing to attend are being asked to declare an expression of interest to allow organisers to be aware of estimated attendees. You can register your interest by calling the Employment Hub on (01482) 616623.
Posters highlighting the event have also been placed in the hub, Central Library and at community areas in Hull.
