By Simon Bristow, Co-Editor

A city centre store that was extensively damaged during rioting in August has reopened after a major refurbishment.

Shoezone in Jameson Street was among a number of shops looted and damaged and had its doorway set on fire during disturbances by far-right rioters on August 3.

The footwear retailer reopened for business at the weekend and revealed the total cost of the damage to the premises was £300,000.

BACK IN BUSINESS: The refurbished store

To celebrate its relaunch, Shoezone has announced a number of opening offers as it welcomes customers back to the store.

With a refitted space and new product offerings, Shoezone will stock its own brands and a variety of name-brands popular with online shoppers, including Lilley & Skinner, Heavenly Feet and Kickers.

Anthony Smith, chief executive of Shoezone said: “It is exciting to be reopening our store in Hull. We hope that our customers like the new variety of products and we look forward to welcoming them back into the store.”
