Open Gardens fundraiser for Dove House

By Simon Bristow

A popular open gardens event in Hull will raise money for Dove House Hospice.

About 40 households will take part in the Avenues Open Gardens events on Sundays June 25 and July 2, with proceeds going to Dove House and other charities.

As well as offering a look around participating gardens there will also be family activities including music, a scarecrow trail, and refreshments.

Gemma Hindley, fundraising assistant at Dove House Hospice, said: “Open Gardens are hugely popular events that take place throughout Hull and East Yorkshire in aid of the hospice. We are incredibly grateful to all of our gardens that take part as they are helping to ensure the hospice can provide care for patients and their families within the local area.”

Admission costs £5 per adult and is free for accompanied children. For more information contact the fundraising team on fundraising@dovehouse.org.uk or call 01482 785743.

  • At 10am tomorrow Dove House Hospice will open its first superstore in the city in Hessle Road. It will be open from 9am to 5pm between Mondays to Saturdays and from 10am to 4 pm on Sundays. Anyone who would like to volunteer in the store can call call 01482 785747, or email volunteers@dovehouse.org.uk
