One of the UK’s brightest emerging musicians will perform at Hull Central Library next month as part of the Get It Loud In Libraries initiative.

L Devine, who recently released her brand-new EP, Near Life Experience: Part 1, will play at the Albion Street venue at 2.30pm on Sunday, October 17. Tickets cost £8.80, which includes a booking fee.

The singer-songwriter’s latest release follows her acclaimed debut EP Growing Pains (2017), and Peer Pressure (2018).

Get It Loud In Libraries is an award-winning project designed to give people the chance to see top artists in their local library.

Since 2005, it has delivered high quality gigs in libraries in towns and cities all over the UK, featuring breakthrough and established music acts including Adele, Jessie J, Plan B, Cate Le Bon, Clean Bandit, Juliette Lewis, and Meilyr Jones.

Councillor Marjorie Brabazon, chair of Hull Culture and Leisure, said: “Get It Loud In Libraries is a fantastic initiative that brings some of the best talent from around the UK, and the world, to different and intimate places across the country.

“L Devine is the latest in a number of amazing artists to visit Hull Central Library – and hopefully there will be many more.”

Having explored the experiences of her generation with songs that focus on LGBTQ+ life, female sex positivity and the impact of social media, Near Life Experience: Part 1 is introspective.

L Devine examines issues of self-evaluation, personal mental health, and her identity in relationships.

Near Life Experience: Part 1 contains her latest single Priorities, and previous single Girls Like Sex, along with three new songs – Off The Grid, Be In Her Bedroom, Wish That You Saw Me – and previously released tracks Don’t Say It and Naked Alone.

This gig was initially due to take place on in November 2020 but was rescheduled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
