Two Hull MPs have joined Keir Starmer’s new Government following Labour’s historic landslide win in the General Election.

Hull North and Cottingham MP Dame Diana Johnson has been appointed as a Minister of State in the Home Office, while Emma Hardy, MP for Hull West and Haltemprice, was appointed Parliamentary Under Secretary of State in the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (DEFRA).

In a post on X, formerly Twitter, Ms Hardy said: “I’m delighted the Prime Minister has appointed me as a Parliamentary Under Secretary in DEFRA.

“I’m so excited to be at the beating heart of a Labour government ready to make changes to improve the lives of people right across the UK!”
