Hull 4 Ukraine: More vans filled with donations of humanitarian aid hit the road

GENEROUS: Some of the donations gifted by the people of Hull

More vans filled with donations for the people of Ukraine will be leaving for Poland tomorrow from the Hull 4 Ukraine donations site.

Vans provided by Hull City Council and driven by Hull 4 Ukraine volunteers will be heading for Krakow and Warsaw, where they will deliver aid to humanitarian organisations.

East Yorkshire businesses, including Neill & Brown and Global 4 Components, are also assisting with transport - but Hull 4 Ukraine organisers are appealing for help from other transport companies.

Councillor Daren Hale, city council leader, said: “Among all the terrible news coming out of Ukraine, these images of lorries full of donations arriving in the places they are needed most are a ray of light.

“The generosity of the people and businesses in Hull over these past few weeks, both in donating much-needed aid and volunteering their time, has been overwhelming and heart-warming.

“As the situation in Ukraine continues, we urge everyone to keep donating as much as they can so Hull 4 Ukraine can get this aid to the people who so desperately need it.”

Residents, businesses and organisations throughout the city have been donating to the Hull 4 Ukraine appeal, which was set up last month to collect and deliver aid to people affected and displaced by Russia’s brutal invasion of Ukraine.

After an overwhelming response, organisers are encouraging people to keep donating, and to keep checking the list of items needed, which changes regularly.

The latest list of required items and drop-off points, as well as information on other ways people can help, can be found on the dedicated page of the Hull City Council website.

Hull 4 Ukraine is also looking for more volunteers to help with sorting donations and supplies and packing and preparing items for transport. Anyone who would like to help can register their interest via this link.
