‘Selfish and antisocial’: Council asks for help identifying fly-tippers

By Simon Bristow

Hull City Council is asking for help in identifying people caught on camera dumping waste on the city’s streets.

Two fly-tipping incidents took place in west Hull this month and both were captured on CCTV.

On December 5, three men were seen heading from Manvers Street to dump waste in Exmouth Street, sheepishly looking around as they return.

Five days later, a man and a woman were seen walking along Wellsted Street before dumping waste near a bin.

Councillor Julia Conner, city council portfolio holder for environment, said: “The council takes fly-tipping very seriously and we will not hesitate to take action against those responsible.

“Anyone with information can contact the council in confidence and help us stamp out this selfish, antisocial behaviour and clean up our neighbourhoods.”

Prosecution for fly-tipping can result in an unlimited fine, imprisonment or both.

Anyone with information can report it via the council’s Caught On Camera page, by calling (01482) 300300 or by emailing enviro.crime@hullcc.gov.uk, quoting the reference number 439619 for the Exmouth Street incident, or 439849 for Wellsted Street.
