The city’s libraries are offering free online activities for children and families this half-term, from virtual street dancing to dog classes.

The programme includes:

  • A scavenger hunt around the home, ending with a story told by John Kirk

  • Street dance classes with dance teacher Trish Rimmer

  • Family workshops run by The Dogs Trust, for anyone thinking of getting a dog or wanting their children to be more comfortable around them

  • A photography workshop

  • Craft sessions on making Christmas tree decorations

The programme runs through the October half-term and into November.

Katie Holdstock, from Hull Libraries, said: “We're all adapting to a new normal - whether we like it or not. We've still got a few changes to make before we can fully open our doors, but we’re always open online.

“Over the past six months we’ve been trialling lots of different online events to see how our families like to be entertained at home. While we’re currently not able to bring people together in large groups, through these activities we aim to keep everyone entertained at home through storytelling, craft, photography and dance.

“If you would like to be the first to hear about new events, sign up to our mailing list and we’ll send library love direct to your inbox on the last Friday of every month.”

Events are free and can be booked via the Hull Libraries EventBrite page http://hulllibraries.eventbrite.com/. To sign up to the monthly library newsletter visit http://bit.ly/HL-ENEWS.
