Tragedy as boy, 10, dies after collision with car

A 10-year-old boy has died after a collision with a car on Anlaby Road.

The crash happened just after 6pm on Monday when a blue BMW collided with two boys riding a bicycle on the flyover, near the junction with Selby Street, police said.

Both boys suffered life-threatening injuries and were taken to hospital after emergency services attended. One of them died a short time later. His family have been informed and are being supported by specially trained officers.  

The other boy remains in hospital in a critical condition.

A man aged 30 man has been arrested on suspicion of driving offences in connection with the incident. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.

Officers from Humberside Police’s serious collisions unit are appealing for anyone that witnessed the collision, who has not already spoken to them, to get in touch.

They are also keen to hear from anyone that saw either vehicle prior to the collision, or anyone with dashcam footage from driving in the area at the time.
