Overnight closures of the westbound carriageway of the A63 will begin on Monday near the Humber Bridge.

National Highways is due to start essential resurfacing work on the westbound entry slip road from Priory Way, which will see the slip road and westbound A63 closed from Priory Way to Western Interchange overnight between 8pm and 6am.

The work is expected to last five nights and end on December 16.

Overnight resurfacing will then begin on the westbound carriageway between the same points on January 5, which is expected to continue into the week beginning January 16.

The A63 will be open to traffic travelling in both directions during the day. Fully signed diversions will be in place during the closures.

National Highways programme delivery manager Stuart Allanson said: “Drivers will notice journeys on these stretches of road become smoother once the work is complete.

“By carrying out the work overnight we have worked to keep disruption to a minimum; however, we apologise for any delays. We advise people to plan their route and familiarise themselves with diversions before setting off and allow more time to get to their destination.”

The work cannot be carried out in harsh weather, the agency said, with any changes to the schedule being shared on the National Highways website and social media channels.
