What’s on in April

Dear Evan Hansen

Monthly entertainment guide, in partnership with Visit Hull

Dear Evan Hansen

Hull New Theatre

April 22-26

£20-£58

Meet Evan, an anxious high school kid who wants nothing more than to fit in. The thing is, on his way to fitting in, he didn’t tell the whole truth. And now must give up on a life he never dreamt he’d have. As events spiral and the truth comes out, Evan faces a reckoning with himself and everyone around him.

Packed with some of the biggest musical theatre songs of the last decade, Dear Evan Hansen has a score by Benj Pasek and Justin Paul (Oscar-winning composers for The Greatest Showman), book by Steven Levenson and more awards than can be listed here. Well OK, we’ll mention a few: its Tony Award for BEST MUSICAL, Olivier Award for BEST NEW MUSICAL, Grammy Award for BEST MUSICAL THEATER SCORE…no big deal but the list goes on!

Olly Murs

Connexin Live

April 27

£61.88-£238.75

Fresh from his nationwide tour as special guest to Take That earlier this year, Olly Murs has announced a massive UK Arena tour.

Blue will be special guests on this must see 16-date arena tour.

Olly said: “Celebrating 15 unbelievable years doing what I love best will be truly special. But to top it off I’m taking a band with me who I was obsessed with in my college years, Blue! No doubt the pranks and banter will be free-flowing but most importantly it’s going to be a great night for the fans to enjoy, I can’t wait.”

Ghost The Musical

Hull New Theatre

April 29-May 3

£16.50-£51.50

Walking back to their apartment late one night, a tragic encounter sees Sam murdered and his beloved girlfriend Molly alone, in despair and utterly lost. But with the help of a phony storefront psychic, Sam, trapped between this world and the next, tries to communicate with Molly in the hope of saving her from grave danger…

The movie Ghost is one of cinema’s biggest all-time hits. Starring the late Patrick Swayze alongside Demi Moore and Whoopi Goldberg, it was the highest grossing film of 1990 and won an Oscar for screenwriter Bruce Joel Rubin who has adapted his screenplay for this musical.
