Drivers around Hull city centre are being advised to allow more time for their journeys tonight and tomorrow as a closure is expected to stay in place on the A63 for a bridge joint repair.

The A63 westbound at Clive Sullivan Way is expected to remain closed within the junction at the A1166 at Brighton Street until Saturday afternoon, as National Highways continues to assess and repair the damaged joint. Traffic is currently being diverted at the junction exit slip road before rejoining at the entry slip.

Delays are expected during tonight’s peak traffic period with drivers urged to allow extra time for their journeys or find alternative routes if possible.

A temporary repair is due to take place on the joint tomorrow morning, with the road currently expected to reopen at around mid-afternoon. National Highways will then arrange for a permanent repair. Further updates on timescales for this repair will be shared as they are confirmed.

The repairs coincide with a planned closure on the eastbound carriageway of the A63 between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way from 8pm tonight until 6am on Monday morning. This is to progress essential repair works on Castle Street, with drivers advised to follow signposted diversions.

Updates are also being shared via the @HighwaysYORKS X (formerly Twitter) feed and the National Highways: Yorkshire Facebook page.
