Woman jailed for killing partner in drink-fuelled knife attack
A woman who stabbed her partner to death has been jailed for six years.
Sally Godwin, 29, stabbed Ronald Portz with a knife in a drink-fuelled attack at their home in Dodthorpe, Orchard Park, just after midnight on Saturday, November 9 last year.
Emergency services attended but Mr Portz was pronounced dead at the scene. He was 30 years old.
Godwin admitted manslaughter at an earlier hearing in April and was remanded in custody until being sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court today, where she was jailed for six years.
Detective Chief Inspector Christine Calvert, senior investigating officer, said after the hearing: “This was a violent attack fuelled by alcohol which resulted in a man sadly losing his life.
“My thoughts remain with Ronald’s family through this incredibly difficult time. I hope that they feel a sense of justice following today’s sentencing.”
