Queue-busting bars set for Humber Street Sesh

QUEUE-BUSTER: One of the bars coming to Humber Street Sesh

By Simon Bristow

Festival-goers hoping to quench their thirst at next month’s Humber Street Sesh may have had their prayers answered with the arrival of what organisers are describing as queue-busting bars.

They have enlisted the services of festival bar operators Central Fusion, who will be installing five bars fitted with multi-dispense units capable of pouring 12 pints in 20 to 30 seconds. Additional bar staff will also be on hand to keep the queues at bay.

Following a stint at the Old Trafford Ashes Test Match, Central Fusion will bring their expertise to the Sesh on Saturday, August 12, and will then move on to serve audiences at Leeds Festival. The company has an impressive track record, having previously run busy festival bars at Latitude, Leeds, Reading, Isle of Wight and other major events nationwide.

Dave Mays, Humber Street Sesh Festival Site Director, said: “The fast-pouring systems across the festival bars this year will have a huge impact on reducing queues. Waiting too long for a pint is something that we want to eradicate at this year’s event and provide the best festival experience possible.”

This year, festival bars and stages will be powered by hydrotreated vegetable oil instead of diesel, supplied at a discount by JR Rix & Sons Ltd. As Oh Yes! Net Zero members, Sesh Events Ltd have transitioned to this renewable fuel, reducing their carbon emissions by 90 per cent.

Bolstering the festival’s green credentials by eliminating plastic cups, Central Fusion will be using recyclable paper cups across all bars, with recycling stations positioned nearby.

Following a remarkable sell-out in 2022, Humber Street Sesh will celebrate a decade on Hull Marina on August 12th, showcasing over 100 acts, and shining a light on regional emerging artists, as well as a few aspirational acts from further afield invited to join the party.

The event will continue to offer family fun, with the much-loved Silent Disco and Team Extreme Skate Park, Hip Hop Amphitheatre with Beats Bus, ScrapStore Creative Arts Marquee, photography exhibitions, flash mob dances and street entertainers.

Humber Street Sesh 2023 will take place on Hull Marina on August 12 from noon to 11pm.
