Ex-member of Hull City Council Ryan Langley charged with child sex offences

An ex-member of Hull City Council and former deputy leader of Hull’s Liberal Democrat group has been charged with a series of child sex offences.
Ryan Langley, 33, who until last week’s Local Elections represented the Derringham ward in west Hull, is due in court next month charged with five offences, The Hull Story can reveal.
He is charged with:
Three counts of making indecent photographs of children;
Distributing indecent photographs of children;
Causing or inciting the sexual exploitation of a child.
Mr Langley, of Hessle Road, west Hull, is due to appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, June 14.
Mr Langley was first elected to the council as a Liberal Democrat on May 5, 2016, and was deputy leader of the Lib Dem group going into the Local Elections of May, 2021.
He sat as an independent after leaving the Lib Dem group on June 9, 2021, and did not contest his seat at this year’s Local Elections on May 4.
While serving as a councillor, Mr Langley was also a member of the Pickering Park Trust, the Task and Finish Panel for Security in the City’s Parks, and the West Area Committee.
A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “Ryan Langley, 33, of Hessle Road, Hull, has been summoned to Hull Magistrates’ Court, having being charged with three counts of making indecent photos of children, one count of distributing indecent photos of children, and one count of causing / inciting the sexual exploitation of a child.
“He will appear at Hull Magistrates’ Court on 14th June 2023.”
