CELEBRATION: The REYTAs at Bridlington Spa

The Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards (REYTAs) made a dazzling return with an unforgettable awards ceremony at Bridlington Spa, celebrating excellence in the region’s tourism industry.
Now in its 14th year, the REYTAs brought together Hull and East Yorkshire’s tourism community for an evening honouring the outstanding individuals, attractions and hospitality businesses that make the area a vibrant visitor destination.
Chris Blacksell, Visit Hull and East Yorkshire (VHEY) chair, said: “The REYTAs are more than an awards night — they’re a powerful reminder of the passion, creativity and resilience within our tourism sector.
“Each finalist and winner reflects the dedication that makes Hull and East Yorkshire such an inspiring place for visitors and locals alike.”
With 71 finalists competing across a variety of categories, the event recognized the best in local tourism.
Among the night’s biggest winners was Broadgate Farm Cottages, taking home two honours: the Remarkable Self-Catering Accommodation of the Year and Remarkable Accessible Award and the Inclusive Tourism Award.
Judges said: “The welcoming atmosphere and serene surroundings create a sanctuary for relaxation. What truly sets Broadgate apart is their commitment to inclusivity, providing adaptable facilities that cater to diverse needs.”
Humber Street Sesh was awarded the Remarkable Tourism Event of the Year, with judges applauding Sesh “bringing a phenomenal number of visitors to the city”.
The awards were presented by the region’s iconic blue-coated HEY! Volunteers, who play a vital role in supporting arts, culture and heritage, as well as enhancing community pride.
Councillor Nick Coultish, cabinet member for culture, leisure and tourism at East Riding Council, expressed his pride in the awards, saying: “The Remarkable East Yorkshire Tourism Awards celebrate everything that makes our tourism industry exceptional, acknowledging the hard work, talent and dedication of those at its heart. Congratulations to all the winners and finalists.”
Councillor Rob Pritchard, portfolio holder for culture and tourism at Hull City Council, added: “The REYTAs have grown into one of the most eagerly anticipated events on our calendar. It’s fantastic to see so many talented finalists showcased once again. My congratulations to this year’s winners on their remarkable achievements.”
The 2024 REYTAs are also aligned with the Visit England awards, offering winners the chance to be recognised on a national level.
Organised by VHEY, the event is made possible through ticket sales and the support of sponsors. This year’s main sponsors were Wykeland and Fred, with additional support from HPSS, East Yorkshire Local Food Network, Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitality Association, Traenhus, Acklams Holidays, Hull Trains, Lloyd Dowson and The Yorkshireman.

“The Balloon Tree Farm shop& Cafe is located just outside Stamford Bridge. On arrival, the first thing we saw was a delightful halloween display including pumpkins from their own seasonal pick your own farm.
“Locally sourced products and ingredients are used in both the cafe and farm shop and the cafe has a wide selection of dishes on offer including delicious cakes, all served by the most friendly and helpful staff.’’
