Quickline accelerates rural broadband rollout with new Build Team

BUILDING A NEW TEAM: Chris Akrill, Quickline’s Head of Fibre Operations, left, and Chris Fletcher, Infrastructure Engineer

Rural broadband provider Quickline Communications is creating a new infrastructure team as it accelerates its rollout of fast, reliable broadband.

The Quickline Build Team will be responsible for the building of fibre networks that connect rural communities to better broadband.

The new roles in the 16-strong team are the latest jobs to be created at fast-growing Quickline, which recently moved into new offices at Albion Mills in Willerby to accommodate its expansion.

From installing track, cabling and splicing to making fibre connections live in local areas, the team will play an integral role in Quickline’s mission to provide “broadband for the better” to communities which have been left behind in the drive to improve access to the internet across the UK.

Chris Akrill, Head of Fibre Operations at Quickline, said: “Having our own dedicated Build Team will give us even more capacity and flexibility to roll out our gigabit capable broadband network to even more rural communities.

“We’ve got an ambitious target at Quickline to build our next generation broadband network to over half a million homes and businesses by 2025. To do that, we need an effective and robust team.

“We’re looking for talented individuals to join us on our exciting journey.”

The Build Team will support Quickline’s hybrid network rollout in Yorkshire and Lincolnshire. Once the infrastructure is in place, the project will be handed over to Quickline’s Network Team to complete connections to homes and businesses.

Jobs available in the new Build Team include civil operatives, cablers and splicers. Supervisor and manager roles are also being sought. All the roles are permanent positions.

Wendy Hiley, Talent Acquisition and HR Business Partner at Quickline, said: “There are so many benefits to working for Quickline. People joining the Quickline family have the chance to make an instant impact and not just be a cog in a massive engine.

“We’re growing and evolving at pace and that means there’ll be opportunities for development and career progression regardless of the role you join the company in. We would welcome applications from a variety of industries, including telecoms, utilities, rail, and construction sectors.

“Entry level roles are available and we would love to see some applications from those who have already completed apprenticeships in roles such as splicing or telecoms, for example.”
