More than 30 arrests have been made in the first police raids under an intensive crackdown on organised crime, drug dealing and other offending.

Humberside Police are carrying out the raids over a period of 10 days under Operation Galaxy, which involves officers and staff from multiple departments working in partnership to tackle a range of crimes which also include violent offending, robbery, burglary and anti-social behaviour.

In the first four days of action, seven warrants were executed and more than 30 arrests were made, the force has said.

Officers seized around £50,000-worth of cannabis in a raid on a property in Park Road, Hull.

Two men were also arrested when a cannabis factory was discovered in Albert Avenue in the city.

Trading Standards joined the police in a number of raids, which resulted in 100,000 illicit cigarettes being uncovered, along with nearly 600 packets of tobacco, 1,000 illegal vapes and a “substantial” amount of cash.

Neighbourhood Policing Teams have also been visiting schools across the East Riding to increase education around knife-related crime as part of the operation.

The raids will continue next week.
