New Hull and East Yorkshire LEP appoints founding board
The new Hull and East Yorkshire Local Enterprise Partnership (HEY LEP) has appointed its founding board members.
The board will be responsible for shaping future priorities, developing partnerships and securing investment from both public and private sectors.
The sector-diverse board will comprise of six women and six men and includes LEP Chair James Newman, Deputy Chair Stephen Parnaby and the leaders of Hull City Council and East Riding Council.
Launching tomorrow, the HEY LEP will represent and support businesses and other sectors of the regional economy based in Hull and the East Riding, replacing the Humber LEP on the North Bank, to form a public and private sector partnership with the two councils.
Mr Newman said: “We are delighted that the newly formed LEP has been able to appoint so many excellent members to its new board.
“I look forward to working with them all to establish a new strategic vision for the region and to capitalise on the enormous opportunities for economic growth and transformation that will benefit all organisations, big or small, and their employees, and ensure a sustainable recovery from the problems caused by the pandemic.”
Councillor Steve Brady, leader of Hull City Council, said: “Hull City Council welcomes the appointment of the new board for the HEY LEP.
“The board members have a wealth of knowledge and experience across the full range of the area’s diverse economy.
“As the region recovers from the Covid-19 pandemic and faces the challenges and opportunities of the future, it will be really important to draw on the board’s talent, skill and entrepreneurial vision.”
Councillor Richard Burton, leader of East Riding Council, said: “The announcement of the new HEY LEP Board is a key milestone in laying of the foundations for a bright future for the economy of Hull and East Yorkshire.
“East Riding Council looks forward to working with its partners, through the HEY LEP, to deliver on the priorities of our residents, businesses and communities by protecting the vulnerable, growing the economy and delivering ambition at pace.”

David Hall, owner of Halls & Oliver, Minister Leisure Homes, Oaks of Beverley and Beverley Park Homes
Professor Susan Lea, Vice Chancellor of the University of Hull
Madge Moore, Chair of Grow Yorkshire and Yorkshire Food Farming Rural Partnership
Diana Taylor, Managing Director of Marketing Humber
Dafydd Williams, Head of Policy, Communications and Economic Development at ABP.
