Psychedelic Hull band Loudhailer Electric Company are to headline a summer jamboree at O’Rileys on July 8.

The band will be supported by Sleeperman and Tom Kay on a night that promises to be “bursting with fantastic original sounds and new material”.

Loudhailer Electric Company are fronted by Lou Duffy-Howard, who is fresh from a hugely successful UK reunion tour with city music legends Red Guitars.

Lou said: “It's back to business as usual now the Red Guitars tour is over. Very much looking forward to getting Loudhailer Electric Company back on the road. We are starting off with a hometown summer with a great line-up show at O'Rileys before we head to Huddersfield and York.”

Loudhailer drummer, or “Thunder Conjurer”, Dave Burnby, said: “ I’m so much looking forward to playing this gig, not least to seeing after a long absence one of my favourite Hull bands, Sleeperman and new to me, Tom Kay, who gets rave reviews.

“It’s a strong line-up. Since I’ve been playing with Loudhailer, I’ve been hugely impressed by the work rate of the band, the amount of time and care that goes into rehearsals, and the range of material.

“It’s been one of the most challenging gigs for me, and also the most rewarding. Playing O’Riley’s is always a pleasure: a proper music venue with great sound and lighting. It’s going to be a memorable evening and the early bird fiver offer is just too good to miss.”

Early Bird Tickets cost £5 until June 8, then £8 in advance or £10 on the door. The Beverley Road venue will be open from 7.30pm. Advance tickets are available here.

Loudhailer Electric Company are a four-piece featuring members of prophetic cult bands Red Guitars, Dead Fingers Talk, and The Planet Wilson.

Expect original psychedelic sounds, an eclectic blend of rebel rock from across the ages, with tacit nods to garage punk, psychedelia, Americana and acid folk/rock. Their set features songs telling stories of road trips, myths and legends, and sci-fi.

The band have released three albums on the DHM Record label distributed by Label Worx.

Sleeperman hail from the East Coast of Yorkshire and play unique original material – described as somewhere between The Bad Seeds and Ivor Cutler. They offer a mix of classic guitar sounds and spoken-word poem songs.

They have a new album coming soon, a single Over the Hill released on June 1, and this will be Sleeperman’s first gig since before the pandemic.

Tom Kay has released four studio albums over the last ten years as a solo artist, as well as recording and touring with acts such as The Mighty and the Moon and Broken Orchestra.

His solo debut album, From the Outside In, reached Number 32 in the iTunes singer-songwriter charts, and in 2017 he was invited by critically acclaimed American songwriter John Grant to perform at his North Atlantic Flux festival.

Tom’s work as a guitarist has earned him endorsements from companies including Ernie Ball and Faith Guitars.

He wears his influences on his sleeve, combining the subtlety of Mark Hollis and the fragile, broken melodies of Thom Yorke with the honesty of Damien Rice. Tom is currently working on a new album due for release in 2023.
