A Hull band featuring some of the city’s finest musicians have announced details of their tenth anniversary gig.

Loudhailer Electric Company will celebrate their milestone with a performance at Wrecking Ball Arts Centre in Whitefriargate on Saturday, July 20.

Tickets cost £10 and are available via the venue here or from Skiddle here.

The four-piece have a big history on the psychedelic and original indie scene, and feature the vocals and bass of Lou Duffy-Howard of recently reformed indie chart-toppers Red Guitars; lead guitarist Jeff Parsons of post-punk guitar band Dead Fingers Talk; rhythm guitarist Rich Duffy-Howard and Dave Burnby on drums.

Lou said: “We have played many gigs in the last ten years at some great venues, including locally at O’Riley’s and the Adelphi. A highlight for me was when we launched our debut album Cursus at Kardomah94 with a spectacular lightshow especially created for us by Tim Wall’s Méssièré Lighting.

“For our tenth anniversary show it’s great to be playing at Wrecking Ball, a venue which takes us back to those early gigs at Mal Scott’s Kardomah94.”

Rich said: “I think being in the same band for ten years is an achievement, especially whilst continuing to write and play original material, which cuts across prevailing trends.

“We have shared the stage with good friends and heroes such as Nick Harper, Nik Turner and Hawklords, The Yawpers, Roland Gift, Stray, Dave Graney & Clare Moore, M.G. Greaves, and Wasted Youth. I’m really looking forward to the next adventure of our continuing journey together.”

The band promise psychedelic sounds, original songs telling stories of road trips, myths and legends and sci-fi. Expect an eclectic blend of rebel rock from across the ages, with tacit nods to garage punk, psychedelia, Americana and acid folk/rock.

Jeff said: “As a guitar player I’ve been able to express myself with unfettered abandon upon the lush canvases presented by the band. I’m especially pleased to be bringing our particular brand of psychedelic mayhem to the Wrecking Ball Arts Centre, a fitting successor to the venerated and much-missed Kardomah.”

Dave added: “It’s a huge privilege and a great pleasure to be working with Loudhailer Electric Company, not least because I’ve always been a big fan. I’m very much looking forward to the tenth anniversary show.”
