Jubilee Central: Where creativity, connection and community thrive

Jubilee Central is a cultural and social cornerstone in Hull’s city centre, a place where community and creativity flourish side by side.

Known as “a living room for the community,” this historic venue is where people from all walks of life come together for shared experiences, from concerts and theatre performances to vital support services.

Originally opened in 1960, the building is undergoing an exciting regeneration through the Full View Project, which will open up the venue’s façade, create a vibrant community café, and bring other essential improvements.

At Jubilee Central, community is the heart of every initiative, driven by the Humber’s pioneering and resourceful spirit.

Led by chair of trustees Chris Zanetti, Jubilee Central’s transformation is made possible through his dedicated fundraising efforts.

In October 2022, Chris completed a 100-mile charity cycle around London, raising significant funds to support the project.

When it opens in 2025, the new café will serve as both a cultural and community hub, with profits reinvested in services for the region’s most vulnerable residents.

The centre is dedicated to supporting people from a wide range of backgrounds — homeless individuals, refugees, those struggling with mental health, and families in crisis — by offering a welcoming environment where everyone feels valued.

The café will not only offer a meeting place for friends, but it will also provide access to essential services such as showers and laundry, helping those in need find support and connection.

This commitment to practical, meaningful support embodies the Humber’s value of being real, focusing on truly addressing community needs.

Beyond its social mission, Jubilee Central has become a celebrated cultural space, hosting an array of concerts, theatre performances, and community events that enrich the creative landscape.

From candlelit tribute performances to West End shows, Jubilee Central brings the community together for joyful experiences.

With the nearby Albion Square redevelopment, Jubilee Central will be an essential part of Hull’s revitalised cultural district, blending community service with cultural enrichment.

Through this unique approach, Jubilee Central stands as a beacon of revolutionary change in the Humber — empowering individuals and contributing to a vibrant future for the region.
