A murder investigation has been launched after a man died more than two weeks after suffering a serious head injury.
Humberside Police received a call from paramedics at around 2.35am on Saturday, February 24 reporting Jonathan Hutty, 49, had been found inside a property in Padstow Close, Bransholme, with a head injury resulting from a suspected assault.
Officers were deployed to the scene and Jonathan was immediately taken to hospital to receive medical treatment, where he remained in a critical condition for 16 days.
The force has now confirmed Jonathan died today (Monday, March 11) from his injury and a murder inquiry has been launched.
Three men, aged 53, 51 and 23, and two women, aged 27 and 23, have been arrested and released on police bail.
Detective Chief Inspector Ben Robinson said: “I understand an incident of this nature is likely to cause concern within the local community; however, I’d like to reassure people that we do believe this to be an isolated incident between individuals known to each other.
“Since we received the report, I have had a dedicated team of detectives conducting extensive lines of enquiries, including house to house and reviewing CCTV footage in and around the area.
“If anyone has information, no matter how small, which could be the vital piece of information we need to further our investigation, then I would urge them to come forward.
“Our enquiries are ongoing and we continue to appeal to anyone who was in the area around the time of the incident, or anyone who has any CCTV or dashcam footage that may assist with our enquiries, to please contact us on our non-emergency number 101, quoting log 53 of February 24.”
Anyone with information can also report it anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
