Humberside Police have made 135 arrests and 22 people have been charged so far under Operation Shield.

The force launched the major three-month operation to target criminals in hotspot locations just over two weeks ago.

It has combined resources from its teams including CID, major crime, roads policing and patrol, as well as its network of Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs), for the huge crackdown.

Officers will be out in force across the region over the next three months, prioritising burglary, robbery and antisocial behaviour. Sexual offenders and domestic abusers will also be targeted.

Chief Constable Paul Anderson told The Hull Story he expects hundreds of arrests to be made.

Providing an update on the operation, a Humberside Police spokesperson said: “We continue to keep up the pressure as already this week the teams have conducted six warrants, five stop and searches, nine traffic offence reports, and arrested a further 42 people, now taking the full total to 135 arrests and 36 warrants since the operation launched covertly on Monday, September 11.

“Our communities are key to the success of Operation Shield, and we encourage you to report any concerns or suspicions to us. You can speak to our officers whilst they’re out and about or contact us on our non-emergency number 101.

“If you wish to remain anonymous, you can also report via the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
