‘We will find you’: Police target criminals in 10 days of raids

By Rick Lyon

Humberside Police are carrying out an intensive series of raids over the next 10 days to tackle organised crime, drug dealing, violent offending, robbery, burglary and anti-social behaviour.

The force is ramping up its activity under Operation Galaxy, which launched in 2019 and comprises detectives, officers and staff from major crime, roads policing, intelligence, police dogs and handlers, economic crime and various other departments working together.

Officers will be executing warrants across the Humberside force area, making arrests and seizing any illegal items such as drugs and weapons, as well as any ill-gotten gains.

In addition, they will be working in partnership with the local authorities to identify and protect vulnerable people to help disrupt and dismantle organised crime groups which target youngsters through county lines drug offending.

Chief Superintendent Christine Wilson, who is leading the operation, said: “Operation Galaxy has been instrumental in disrupting those committing criminality across our region for just over three years.

“Over the course of the next 10 days, no stone will be left unturned by the team and we will be making the lives of criminals very uncomfortable.

“Our message is very clear to those involved in criminality - your actions will not be tolerated and we will find you and ensure you are held accountable for your crimes.

“Throughout the 10-day period, our local communities can expect to see an increased presence from our uniformed and plain clothed officers, particularly in areas where crime rates and anti-social behaviour incidents are more prevalent.

“Our Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPT) will also be highly visible in their local communities, engaging with residents and listening to concerns, as well as providing updates on the work we are doing to make communities safer.

“We will always do everything we possibly can to identify and arrest those who have committed crimes across the Humberside force area, to ensure our residents feel safe and protected and justice is achieved for any victim of crime.”
