Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action: ‘Find out how we’re keeping you safe’

COMMUNITY POLICING: A Humberside Police officer out on patrol

By Rick Lyon

Humberside Police are encouraging people to talk to their officers out in communities across the region to find out more about their work as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action.

Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action 2023 starts today across the country to shine a light on community policing and the diverse work of neighbourhood police officers, PCSOs and Special Constables.

Humberside Police were recently rated “outstanding” by independent watchdog His Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary and Fire & Rescue Services (HMICFRS) and praised for focusing on neighbourhood policing, among other areas.

Now, as part of Neighbourhood Policing Week of Action, the force wants members of the public to speak with its Neighbourhood Policing Teams (NPTs) to understand more about what they do.

Assistant Chief Constable Darren Wildbore said: “Whilst this week will likely be business as usual for our Neighbourhood Policing Teams across the force, it’s really important that we showcase to residents what we do every day in the heart of our communities to make a difference.

“Neighbourhood policing is so much more than community engagement to all of our officers, it’s an opportunity to make a difference in tackling crime, antisocial behaviour, working with partners to solve community-based problems, as well as gathering information to help inform the bigger policing picture.

“As part of the week of action, I would encourage members of the public to speak with our officers out and about in your area, working alongside partners and local businesses, conducting ‘Humber Talking’ surveys.

“I hope that you enjoy finding out a bit more about our brilliant teams and about the work that they do each and every day this week.”
