‘Unforgiveable’: Pharmacy robber facing prison

PLEADED GUILTY: Lee Suffill

By Rick Lyon

A man who threatened pharmacy staff with a bladed weapon is facing a prison sentence after admitting a number of offences.

Lee Suffill, 51, of Glencoe Street, west Hull, pleaded guilty at Hull Crown Court to robbery, burglary and two counts of possession of a bladed article.

The court heard Suffill threatened staff with a bladed weapon at two pharmacies on Hessle Road, Gipsyville, on separate occasions last December. He made off with a large quantity of items each time.

Detective Sergeant Helen Collier, of Hull CID, said: “Retail staff provide a valuable service to their communities and they should be able to carry out their work in safety.

“To threaten shop staff with a bladed weapon is unforgiveable and I’m sure they would have been traumatic experiences for the staff. I would also like to thank the victims and the businesses for their support throughout the investigation.

“I hope this acts as a warning to others that we will investigate and we will put you before the courts.”

Suffill was remanded in custody until he is sentenced on Tuesday, February 21.
