CREATIVE TECH: A digital partner is required for the Hull maritime project.

The Hull maritime project is looking to join forces with a creative tech company to deliver a new digital skills programme.

Young people in the city will have the opportunity to develop their own innovative digital responses to Hull’s maritime stories, buildings, ships and collections as part of the project.

Over the next three years, 20 young people will work alongside local industry professionals to create a digital account of the city’s maritime heritage that will be used to raise the profile of the project.

Whether it’s creating a film, game or interactive virtual environment, they will learn new skills or enhance existing ones in addition to gaining a greater understanding of the city’s maritime heritage and of the collections held by Hull Maritime Museum.

The Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City project, funded by Hull City Council and the National Lottery Heritage Fund, is a key cultural regeneration scheme in the heart of the city centre that will protect and celebrate 800 years of Hull’s maritime heritage.

Councillor Daren Hale, portfolio holder for economic investment, regeneration, planning, land and property, said: “In this digital age, our lives are now mostly online and there is a growing need for people who have the relevant skills to produce content to inform and entertain the public in a variety of digital landscapes.

“Working in creative and digital media is an exciting and vibrant industry. This programme will enable young people to develop their own maritime creations in a professional environment and under the watchful eye of the industry experts, putting their learning into practice.”

Companies have until 12 noon on Monday, September 21 to submit their expressions of interest. The tender documents are available at www.yortender.co.uk

It is expected the programme will get underway in early 2021.
