The Hull Story wins Front Page of the Year award
We are delighted to have won the Front Page of the Year award, an annual honour run by industry website Hold The Front Page.
The Hull Story was announced the winner today for our September splash, pictured above, which led our coverage of last summer’s riots.
It followed a public vote by readers of HTFP, who were invited to choose from a shortlist of 12, and which saw The Hull Story take 41 per cent of the vote, with The Star in Sheffield second with 26 per cent, and the Bristol Post third with 10 per cent.
More than 1,000 HTFP readers took part in the poll which ran from December 19 until this morning.
Announcing the result, HTFP said: “The Hull Story’s win represents a notable success for a title which only began publishing in print last year.”
The Hull Story Co-Editors Rick Lyon and Simon Bristow, and Production Editor Sam Hawcroft, said: “We are absolutely thrilled to have won this award. For a small independent publisher to win Front Page of the Year against such strong opposition from across the country – especially in the paper’s first year – is a fantastic achievement.
“Huge thanks to everyone who voted for us.”
The Hull Story’s front page has also been shortlisted for Front Page of the Year at the Regional Press Awards, which will be announced in London in March.
Thank you to all our readers, partners and supporters.
