Fontaines D.C. - ‘The best band in the world’, to launch UK tour in Hull
Irish band Fontaines D.C. – just named as the ‘best band in the world’ – will visit Hull’s Bonus Arena this November.
The band, who will be playing Glastonbury as well as Leeds and Reading festivals this summer, will kick off their UK tour with the date in Hull on Monday, November 7.
The tour, in support of their new album Skinty Fia, comes after they took home the trophy for Best Band In The World at the 2022 NME Awards.
Tickets for the Hull gig go on sale at 10am on Wednesday, March 30, and will be available from www.bonusarenahull and Ticketmaster.
Skinty Fia is an Irish phrase which translates to English as “the damnation of the deer”.
The phrase, which is used to display disappointment or annoyance, resonated with frontman Grian Chatten as the correct expression of his feelings towards the “mutation” of Irish culture abroad.
The song explores the idea through the lens of a relationship doomed by paranoia, alcohol and drugs.
The album’s cover art features a deer, plucked from its natural habitat and deposited in the hallway of a home, illuminated by an artificial red glow. Skinty Fia is released on April 22.
Standing and seated tickets will be available for the Bonus Arena show.
