A Hull charity that provides palliative care has spoken of its shock after a burglary at one of its shops.

Thieves stole cash from the Dove House store in Endike Lane after breaking in - depriving the charity of funds to provide “vital” care to people with life-limiting illnesses, and leaving it with a “hefty” repair bill. It also lost a day’s trade.

The charity has described the burglary, which happened late on Wednesday, March 1, as “horrible”.

Dove House has shared its CCTV footage with police and urged anyone with information to come forward. It also thanked the community for its support.

Sarah Cash, deputy chief executive at Dove House, said: “As a local charity we rely on our shops to raise money to fund the care of our patients. It is horrible to know that someone has deliberately taken funds from the shop which was meant to care for local people who are facing the worst times in their lives.

“We urge anyone with information about the robbery to contact the police and we have passed on our CCTV footage in the hope that the offenders will be swiftly caught and brought to justice.”

She added: “We would like to thank the local community for their kind words and support following the robbery and we would be very grateful for any donations to the shop to help us make back what we have lost.”

  • Anyone with information can call Humberside Police on the non-emergency number 101, quoting crime reference number 23000030901.
