Talented young goalkeeper David Robson has signed a new one-year deal at Hull City.

The 21-year-old, whose previous contract was set to expire this summer, has agreed fresh terms which include a club option of a further year.

The Northallerton-born shot-stopper made his Tigers debut in last season’s EFL Cup against Bradford City and has been named in a Championship matchday squad on three occasions.

Joining the Tigers at Under-15s level, he signed professional terms in December 2019 and was rewarded with a new deal in January 2021.

The custodian has gained experience on loan at non-league Tadcaster Albion, East Yorkshire Carnegie, Gainsborough Trinity, Farsley Celtic, and most recently at League Two Crawley Town.

Playing six times for the Red Devils, Robson saved a penalty in an EFL Trophy shootout victory over Portsmouth, and made his Wales Under-21s debut against Austria last September.

Head coach Liam Rosenior said: “I’ve seen a lot of really good things from David and he’s earned his new contract with the work he’s put in playing for the Under-21s and training well every single day.

“He’s learning a new way of playing and doing really well and is only going to get better.

“We’ve had glowing references and reports from Barry Richardson, who has been outstanding in his work with the goalkeeping department. David is a player with a really bright future.”
