‘DOTING FATHER’: Richard Goodwin

Police have named a cyclist who died after a collision with a car last month as Richard Goodwin, 56.

Mr Goodwin, a father of five, died after a collision on the 1033 between Ottringham and Patrington on the evening of Saturday, June 26.

Humberside Police said: “Richard was doting father of five children, and leaves behind a loving partner, sister and parents. He was a kind, caring, selfless person who will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

“Our thoughts are with the loved ones of Richard Goodwin at this sad time, who have understandably been left devastated by the incident.”

Police attended the incident after reports that a car had collided with a bicycle.

A red Nissan Juke is believed to have been travelling west between Patrington and Ottringham before veering onto the wrong side of the road and colliding with a bicycle.

The Nissan is then reported to have left the road and ploughed through a field before coming to a stop in a residential garden.

A man arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and drink-driving has now been released under investigation as inquiries continue.

Officers are continuing to appeal for anyone who was in the vicinity with dashcam footage, or who was travelling along the A1033 Patrington Road up to or around 9pm, or who saw the collision, to call the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 652 of June 27.
