Crossbow fired – man arrested on suspicion of attempted murder

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a crossbow was fired at a property in Victoria Avenue.
Humberside Police received a call from a member of the public at about 10.40pm on Monday reporting that a man was in possession of a weapon in the west Hull street.
Officers were immediately deployed to the area and found a man had discharged a crossbow at a property.
A 50-year-old man was arrested at the scene on suspicion of attempted murder, affray, possession of an offensive weapon in a public place and possession of a bladed article in a public place.
He remains in custody while officers remain in and around the area investigating the incident. A police cordon is in place in an area close to St Ninian’s Walk.
Detective Inspector Jason Gourley, who is leading the investigation, said: “Thankfully nobody was physically harmed. However, the occupants have understandably been left shaken by the events of yesterday evening.
“I understand an incident of this nature will naturally cause concern amongst the community, however, as a part of our initial lines of enquiry, I would like to offer some reassurance those involved are known to each other.
“A scene guard remains in whilst officers conduct lines of enquiry, and we would encourage anyone who has any concerns to please come and speak to us.
