£5,000 reward offered as police name suspect in Corey Dobbe murder inquiry
A £5,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest of the chief suspect in the Corey Dobbe murder investigation, who police have now named as Moise Djuku.
The identity and location of the man seen in the above CCTV image has been central to repeated appeals for information by Humberside Police since Corey suffered fatal stab wounds in Harleston Close, east Hull on June 13.
He was today named as Moise Djuku on the 13th day of the inquiry. Police also said he is believed to be in the Hull area.
At the same time, the independent crime-fighting charity Crimestoppers announced it was offering a £5,000 reward for information leading to Mr Djuku’s arrest.
However, information passed directly to police would not qualify for the reward, and anyone wanting to claim it should contact the charity by using the online form www.crimestoppers-uk.org or by calling 0800 555 111.
Gemma Gibbs, Yorkshire and Humberside regional manager at Crimestoppers, said: “Corey was a much-loved brother, son and partner to his girlfriend.
“This is a shocking case and his loved ones deserve answers. Our charity is supporting the investigation by offering this reward, and we are appealing for anonymous information from the public on Mr Djuku’s whereabouts. He is urgently wanted for questioning.
“Somebody knows where he is, so it is important to be clear that to assist somebody wanted for questioning over a crime can lead to prosecution.
“Our charity is here for people who feel unable to speak to police directly. We are independent and offer an alternative option when reporting crime.
“Since 1988, when Crimestoppers began, we have always kept our promise of anonymity to the millions who have trusted us with their crime information.
“I urge you to do the right thing. You can call our UK Contact Centre, which is open 24/7 on freephone 0800 555 111, or you can use our simple and secure anonymous online form at www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
“Nobody will know you contacted us and you’ll be doing the right thing for Corey, his family and his friends who deserve to see the person responsible for this death brought to justice.”
The Hull Story revealed yesterday that three arrests have already been made as part of the inquiry, including two on suspicion of conspiracy to murder. The force has declined to give the ages or gender of those arrested, or say what the third person was arrested for.
Emergency services were called to reports of a stabbing in Harleston Close at 7.10pm on June 13. Corey, 23, was treated at the scene but died a short time later.
