Calum Scott books biggest hometown show with date at Bonus Arena
Hull-born singer Calum Scott has announced his biggest hometown show so far with a date at the Bonus Arena.
Scott, who emerged onto the city’s club and pub music scene before finding fame through the TV show Britain’s Got Talent, will play the arena on Saturday, October 8. Tickets go on sale on Friday at 10am.
The event will be all-seated and under-14s can attend if accompanied by an adult.
After rising to fame on the 2015 season of Britain's Got Talent, the musician’s version of Robyn's Dancing on My Own helped shoot him to stardom.
Born and raised in the city, Scott and his sister Jade, herself a talented vocalist, entertained locals in bars and clubs. In 2013 Jade entered him into a talent competition run by a local newspaper, which he won.
In 2015, both Scott and his sister auditioned for Britain's Got Talent, but Jade was eliminated at the audition stage.
Scott auditioned with a stripped-down, piano-led cover of Dancing on My Own, impressing judge Simon Cowell, who sent him straight through to the semi-finals.
Scott became a fan favourite but was eliminated, and despite failing to win, he had developed enough of a following to be able to quit his job as a recruitment consultant at Hull City Council and forge a career as a live act.
In March 2016, Scott released his version of Dancing on My Own as his debut solo single. It was used in an episode of popular TV drama The Vampire Diaries, and went on to sell over 600,000 copies.
Later that May, he announced he had signed to Capitol Records, and in 2018 he released his debut album, Only Human, which reached number four in the UK.
Tickets for the Hull gig are available from the arena, or via Ticketmaster.
Scott will warm-up for the Bonus Arena show with a date at Salford Lowry The Lyric the previous Sunday, October 2.
