Bishop Burton College is opening its campus up to the public for a special event to mark its platinum anniversary.

The land-based college, near Beverley, East Yorkshire, is celebrating 70 years of delivering specialist vocational education this academic year.

The milestone is being used as an opportunity to reflect on the college’s proud history, acknowledge its evolution over the years, and look forward to a bright future as it embraces new technologies.

Bishop Burton, which specialises in agriculture, animal management, engineering, equine and sport, is well known for hosting major public events that attract thousands of visitors, including Lambing Sunday, Town and Country Day and Spring Live.

Now, it has revealed plans for Bishop Burton’s Big Birthday Bash in May.

“Bishop Burton’s Big Birthday Bash is also a chance for us to open up our campus to the community and invite the public to join our celebrations. That’s something that’s really important to us, as an anchor institution in the area.

“It will be an opportunity to showcase who we are as a college, and what we’re all about, including our wonderful students, staff and facilities.

“A lot of people will be familiar with some of the hugely popular events we’ve held at the college throughout our long and proud history, and this promises to be another very special occasion.”

Bishop Burton delivers a diverse range of courses at levels ranging from pre-GCSE all the way through to Masters degrees.

It also runs commercial agriculture, equine and sports enterprises, which provide students with real working environments in which to develop their skills and build their experience.
