A woman found dead at a house in Beverley on Monday has been named as Becci Rees-Hughes.
Police are treating her death as murder and say it is thought to be linked to a road crash near Hornsea later that morning that left one man dead and another seriously injured.
Detective Chief Inspector Alan Curtis, Senior Investigating Officer, said: “Our thoughts are with Becci’s family at this very difficult time.
“Whilst our investigations are continuing into Becci’s murder, at this time we do not believe we are looking for anyone else in connection with her death.
“A post-mortem examination will be carried out to establish the cause of death in the coming days.
“Anyone who can help with our enquiries that has not already been spoken to can call our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 66 of 25 July 2022. If you would rather give your information anonymously, please call the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
Humberside Police said on Tuesday that Becci was found dead at a property in Samman Road after receiving reports of concern for safety.
A man was reported to have left the address in a Volkswagon Polo at about 6am, and a short police pursuit took place after it was spotted on the B1230 between Seaton and Hornsea.
The Polo was then in a collision with a Ford Transit van at around 6.30am. The Polo driver was pronounced dead at the scene, and a man driving the Transit van was taken to hospital with serious and potentially life-changing injuries.
The incident has been referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).
