Two arrested after assault leaves man in critical condition

By Rick Lyon

Two men are in custody on suspicion of the assault of a man who was left in a critical condition.

A 37-year-old man was waiting for a taxi with his partner outside Horner’s Bar, on Anlaby Road, Hull, at approximately 12.40am on Sunday, September 11, when two men are believed to have walked towards them from the direction of Ferensway.

An argument is thought to have taken place before the victim is believed to have been punched. He was taken to hospital to receive treatment for a life-threatening injury to his head and remains in a critical condition.

Following the release of CCTV to try and trace the two suspects, a 37-year-old man came forward and was arrested. A second man, aged 34, was also arrested earlier today.

Humberside Police are appealing for anyone with CCTV or dashcam footage of the area at the time of the alleged assault to call the non-emergency number 101, quoting log 134 of September 11.
