The last of six weekend closures on the A63 in Hull begins tonight as work continues on a new city centre underpass.

The eastbound carriageway will be closed between Daltry Street and Roger Millward Way between 8pm and 6am on Monday as National Highways progresses essential works on Castle Street and the new junction at Mytongate.

Drivers are advised an additional closure will also take place on the A63 westbound carriageway from 8pm on Sunday to 6am the following morning.

The new underpass marks a key part of the National Highways-led Castle Street scheme to improve journeys in Hull.

A new split-level junction, a critical part of the upgrade, is being created by lowering the level of the A63 to create an underpass, with Ferensway and Commercial Road crossing the A63.

A fully signed diversion route will be in place via the A15, the A164, A1079 and A1033.

Drivers in this area may also notice some changes to signage and work areas.

From Monday, February 19, the eastbound road layout will change slightly with exits for A1709, city centre and Princes Dock Street clearly marked before the junction at Ferensway, where drivers need to keep in the left-hand lane.

There will be no change to the number of available lanes in each direction.
