Overnight closures on westbound A63 for resurfacing
By Simon Bristow
The westbound carriageway of the A63 will be closed overnight between South Cave and North Cave for the next three weeks for resurfacing work.
The closures will start tonight and take place between South Cave, at the junction with the A1034 and North Cave, near where the A63 meets the M62, from Monday to Friday between 8pm and 6am.
The essential resurfacing is expected to be completed in December, with work on the eastbound carriageway not due to start until the new year because of essential maintenance taking place on the M62 Ouse Bridge between junctions 36 (Goole) and 37 (Howden).
The carriageway will be open to traffic in both directions during the day and at weekends.
“Once this work is completed, drivers will notice much smoother journeys in this area,” said Stuart Allanson, National Highways programme delivery manager.
He added: “We have worked to keep any disruption to a minimum. However, while the improvements are being carried out, we strongly advise drivers in the area to plan their journeys in advance, follow the signed diversions and allow more time for their journeys.”
A fully signed diversion will be in place, which has been agreed in advance with police and the local authority.
Westbound motorway traffic will be diverted at Western Interchange, between North Ferriby and Humber Bridge, onto the A164 and A1079, through to the A614 onto junction 37 of the M62.
Updates will be shared on the National Highways Yorkshire and North East website. Motorists can also stay up to date via the National Highways Yorkshire Twitter feed, @HighwaysYORKS, or the National Highways Yorkshire Facebook page.
